Superbowl Sunday is just days away and that means an array of pizza, wings, chips and dips, etc. Salsa Dip is an easy quick one to mix up last minute. I also like it because you might be buying these ingredients for other recipes and can just pick a little extra and whip up this […]
Happy National Chocolate Cake Day! I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I love chocolate cake, and I love brownies. Today is the 2nd week of the NFL playoffs! Did your favorite team make it through to this round? My Dad was a football player in high school and college. My whole family loves sports of all kinds so the playoffs are always a great family time for us. While the day may be about […]
This book has been one of the most encouraging, uplifting, and inspiring ones I have read in a long time. I picked it up at Gaither Family Resources in Alexandria, IN while we were at Gloria’s Christmas Tea. I always find gems on her shelves and 7 Women was no exception!
Author Eric Metaxas shares the story of 7 Women who’s faith in walk with the Lord blew me away! Just the encouragement that women of God need today. They were called, and they answered.
Some of the women I knew of, but didn’t know a lot about them or their story. Like Joan of Arc, Corrie ten Boom, Rosa Parks, and Mother Teresa. I knew the last name Susanna Wesley, because of her sons Charles and John, but I didn’t know about her discipline and dedication to God and her family. Hannah More and Maria Skobtsova were new names to me, and probably you too. You will love getting to know them though!
Different times, different ages, different religions, yet they all had a call on their lives from God that led to touching millions of lives, and leading countless to the love of Jesus Christ.
This was a book I had a hard time putting down! I would love to hear your thoughts once you read it, or if you already have!

We can never give enough “Thanks” for all that we have. What a wonderful time of year, a season just to give thanks to the Lord! I had a blast cutting into a pumpkin (roasting the seeds for a snack later!) for this soup. It’s creamy, light and would be the perfect addition to some […]

Baked Squash with Sausage or “squish” as my dad calls it! Has a unique twist with a hot sausage paired with the sweet syrup. During the cool fall months in Iowa I love warming up the oven to back a little acorn squash. The center acts as a bowl and a variety of ingredients can […]
Central to the traditional Scottish way of life, poultry and game have always played a key role. From the hunt dining halls to the remote cottages of the Highlands and Islands. Chicken pie is a favorite throughout Scotland, especially the Lowlands. Chicken and Mushroom Pie ¼ c. butter 2 Tbl. flour 1 c. hot […]
I recently returned from a vacation to the Highlands of Scotland! The main event was the Highland Games, where the traditions of kilts, caber throwing and bagpipes are carried on today. From the bluffs around Aberdeen to the beautiful Isle of Skye. I had my taste of Scotland, scenery and culinary delights! Pies, haggis, stovies, […]
